About Diane Chisholm

Diane views assessment and treatment as a collaborative process between client and therapist. Similarly, she regards case management as a cooperative endeavour between mental health specialists and social workers or case managers who supervise people whose sexual behaviour is in conflict with the law. Diane has extensive experience in motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), relapse prevention, the Risk-Need-Responsivity Model of Assessment and Offender Rehabilitation, and the Good Lives Model of Offender Rehabilitation.

Diane received a Bachelor of Arts (first class honours and distinction) in psychology and sociology at the University of Victoria and a Master of Arts in applied psychology at the University of Guelph.

Diane investigated child abuse and neglect for three years with the Children’s Aid Society in Ontario. Subsequently, for three decades she provided compassionate care as a correctional psychologist throughout the Northwest Territories. For the past fourteen years she has represented the Northwest Territories on a national committee that strives for effective solutions for offenders with addictions or mental illness. In 2017, Diane received an award of excellence from the Government of the Northwest Territories for enhancing the screening of mental health and literacy of newly sentenced inmates. In 2010, she received the Premier’s award for leading a team that improved the quality of criminal risk assessments conducted by case managers and probation officers.
